Let’s discuss why pausing between activities is important to become an effective leader and manager.

We move so quickly through every day. We think that the faster we move the more we will get done.

The truth is we need to pause; our brain needs a chance to transition from one activity to the next. We need to be mindful and pause.

What would it be like if you started meetings with the pause before jumping into the work goals and metrics of the day?

We need pausing that acts as a transition for the brain from one activity to the next.

The pause needs to happen in conversations when we are going too fast when we try to fill in the gaps when someone is thinking. We should breathe instead.

Research tells us that taking deep breaths changes our nervous system. Breathing slowly and mindfully activates the hypothalamus connected to the pituitary gland in the brain to send out neurohormones that inhibit stress-producing hormones and trigger a relaxation response in the body.

We need to slow down to move fast.

We need to pause and breathe.
